[2510 III, the Invasion of Calenardhon by Balchoth and Orcs:]
The message was addressed to Eorl son of Léod, for Cirion knew that he had succeeded his father some years before, when he was but a youth of sixteen, and though now no more than five and twenty was praised in all such tidings as reached Gondor as a man of great courage and wise beyond his years.

[Note: the year of this event was established by the combination of Eorl's birthdate and his age at the time of Léod's death, whereas the day was set arbitrarily to follow the event: Léod, Lord of the Éothéod, Dies while Taming Felaróf.]
