A great host came out of Angmar in 1409, and crossing the river entered Cardolan and surrounded Weathertop. The Dúnedain were defeated....The Return of the King, LoTR Appendix A, Annals of the Kings and Rulers: Eriador, Arnor, and the Heirs of Isildur: The North-kingdom and the Dúnedain
The beginning year is set to coincide with the date of the battle from the Tale of Years; the ending year is that of the Invasion of Arnor by the Witch-king.
