I love this story! Not only does it have all my favourite characters but there is such a sense of celebration and renewal- wonderfully timely for the New Year. You portray the charactere so deftly- with just a gesture here or a word there that just sets them up beautifully. And the scene in Moria is a gem - the sensation of being in a forge, not just any old forge though- Gimli's forge, and he is swollen with pride and acheivement even though legolas is deeply unappreciative until he sees the molten metal - it is reminiscent of his sudden appreciation of the Glittering Caves in LOTR.Great writing as always but sadly this feels like a stand alone piece though I wish there was so much more!

Thank you for such positive feedback, Ziggy! As you know I love L&G as well, so I'm delighted you liked them - and particularly the forging, which I had great fun researching on Wikipedia... Thanks for commenting!

Nicely done, I like that (& something in here woke up a character in my head who is poking me about S&K). The dwarfs bits are very nice, and the dwarf polics; I'm glad Legolas got surprized again & liked what he saw; and there's a nice reference back to a certain chapter that's very appropriate. Thanks for gap-filling this! I'm a happy reader.
