One Last Thing

I have to confess that I never really thought how the Three Ringbearers had felt after the destruction of the One Ring. It didn't cross my mind that their Rings might become a burden, but now that you describe it - yes, it seems quite plausible.
I like your description of Elrond and Celebrian and their meeting. Lovely story, so well written! :)

Oh, this is lovely; lyrical and so vivid. It's certainly a plausible interpretation of how the Rings might affect their bearers after the destruction of the One - and I can quite believe Galadriel being unable/unwilling to give hers up yet (is it wholly about self-punishment, one wonders?)
I loved your Gandalf too; it's easy sometimes to forget that the grumpy old wizard is a Power as far beyond the understanding of even the Highest of the Elves as the Elves' power is incomprehensible to Mortals.

Perhaps Galadriel and Celebrimbor know something that Elrond and Olorin don't!
