Speechless. How can anyone write like this? The most shocking, daring, heartbreaking opening chapter. I feel sorry for Mairon the most.

Cries! JDE, this is seriously one of your masterpieces. Elerrina, Maedhros, Mairon are all living through this story.
So many quotable lines! One can hoodwink the Gods with fool's gold. She is a courageous person to be talking to Mairon like that.
The Mairon-Maedhros part on the rocks moved me to speechlessness again. You make art of the Pieta type with words in this chapter.
"Mairon, Mairon," he whispered, "are we not the unluckiest among Eru's creations, you and I?"
