What a disturbing atmosphere... I'm not quite sure if I would have dared to drink any alcohol in a mood like that, dangling on the very brink of madness. One just can feel the situation, so I suppose even readers who up to now have not thought much about Aragorn's years before he went to Rohan will be well able to estimate this story.
It's a wonderful little piece in itself, reminding me of some ancient tool made of dark wood, smoothed by long use through endless generations.
