Consumate liars they are indeed, Andrea. Although they are not exactly lying, but as you know, Sauron is the great deceiver and he is twisting the truth to serve his own darker purpose. What is happening elsewhere on the field involves Elrohir of course, and Elrohir is Sauron's goal...the next chapter is with Anar and I hope I can post next week. It will more likely be about four chapter more, depending whether or not it goes the way I have planned it... and you know characters sometimes do the opposite of what you think they'll do!

I know I'm very very behind on reading (and commenting), but I'm going to try to catch up!
The length of time it takes to build up to the battle here is almost unbearable, the tension so stretched. I particularly like Gimli's intuitive awareness that something is amiss with the stone of the cliffs (the armies of Mordor waiting to pounce, presumably).
And oh, what a terrible note to end on; poor Legolas.
