Ch. 3: Chapter three:Black Ships
As is usual with your writing I feel as if I am there with them - I can hear the sounds, smell the smells. I feel very, very, sorry for Elrohir - for every possibility of pleasure to become a reminder of horror in that way.

I read the chapter, as soon as it arrived. And I am sorry to say it was too short
That is to say, I liked what I read and it ended too soon.
Good things do end fast, don't they? :-)
Thank you.
More please?

Fantastic description, this chapter - so much action and tension which you draw the reader so vividly into. The way you write about combat is so effective - the sights and the sounds and the stenches - Gimli's axe and Legolas' whirling blades; we're right there in it.
I am also enjoying the way you keep using different observers' perspectives - be it Gimli or the freed Gondorian slaves - to show us the sheer unearthly difference of the Elves.
Wonderful, wonderful passage with Legolas listening to the Dead too - just little details like the fact that their armour looks archaic (yes, of course, it would!) And that he feels a historic connection with them - these are Men who might have seen his grandfather in battle; that had never occurred to me before and it's a wonderful idea. Their murmurings to Legolas are chilling, poetic, beautiful.
Wonderful chapter, well done again!
