Action and adventure is fine in its place but more and more I am enjoying the glimpses of normal life and domestic detail. Faramir is presented as such a fair and decent man (which I believe he is) and such a good leader.

I love this- a really good back scene to the high flown heroic glory of LOTR, beautifully domestic and a thoughtful contrast of two cultures that really are so very different. The narrative voice is perfect for this- a startled observer.
