Oh, Larner, this is by far my favorite Tolkien in modern day** story!
It weaves elements of JRRT's earliest cosmology, which was ethereally beautiful, with modern reminders of Star Trek (Chekov) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (though I wonder whether those of us who remember the non-psychedelic parts of that movie truly experienced the 60's... LOL!) And I loved the sly reference to the song Frodo sang in the Prancing Pony!
This is so original and creative, Larner... it really brightened my day when I saw it featured on the HASA home page.

** Almost said *post-* modern day, but then I remembered that space stations aren't science fiction any more.... although seeing space-walking in a movie so long ago was considerably more glamorous than the jarring reality of learning that astronauts wear diapers and long underwear inside their space suits.......
