A Bit of Rope

Ach! Aiwendiel, you are quite literally ripping out my heart! I LOVE that you have Narya somehow giving Frodo the strength to at least decide to throw himself into the Fire with the Ring, rather than claim it for himself. But to have Sam think of Beren and for the two of them to actually have the courage and fortitude between them to sacrifice Frodo's HAND! Oh. My. GOD! The horrible loses are certainly piling up in this AU! Yes, we have kept Boromir, Theodred, and Halbarad, and Gandalf did not fall to the Balrog. But, the other losses are in many ways even MORE heartbreaking -- Elladan, Celeborn, Eomer, and, if I read between the lines correctly, I think you are also implying that Elrond has perished in the Balrog's assault upon Imladris. Arwen is wounded, and we have to wonder if Aragorn will ever be the same given his terrible wound. What an amazing and terribly brilliant vision you have created -- all from a bit of rope! So anxious for the conclusion of this remarkable tale! Regards, Lindariel

Now, that I hadn't thought of! Narya helps the both of them in the end; but will Sam come out again? The mountain already does its best to see Frodo thrown down, hopefully out of the way!
