Ch. 33: The Fall of the Hornburg
This chapter, I think, surpasses all others - and that is saying something. The detail does not clog the overall sense of the battle, but enhances it. The sense of being immersed in the slaughter, the confusion, the loss, is utterly compelling and convincing. This is wonderful writing that goes far beyond fanfiction

Ch. 33: The Fall of the Hornburg
To know that one of Elrond's twin sons is now dead is a great grief indeed, but at least the enemy is now destroyed, even though so is the Hornburg.
