General Comment

Maybe I ached inside before and did not know, but after reading your storry I fell in love, I cryed for three days and felt miserable and unbearable happy at the same time. Like under a spell I am addicted to this far too few pages that seem to represent the Universe where I need to be and even though they are imprinted in my mind I feel sick if I do not read them over and over and over again...

I could not believe that every time I would think about your wonderfull story a lightninglike shiver explodes so very unexpected and delightfull in my groins and cruises through my body until it dissolves itself in tingles that make my hands tremble, my heart sparkle with hope and my mind taste the bitter taste of despair.

Thank you very much for being so beautiful inside and so generous in sharing with the rest of the world, I hope I did not scared you with my burst of emotions, but like Káno so innocently says it: "it really was your fault".

Although now I am much more aware of the bitterness of the human condition, I feel blessed of being able to keep locked in my heart a memory of a past that could never be...

General Comment

Maedhros and Fingon are certainly the most-slashed couple in The Silmarillion and so to endeavor to add another to this long list of stories--some of them excellent--can be quite an undertaking.

But I will say with confidence that this story is one of the best I've ever read of this pairing and of Silm slash in general. What struck me the most when I first read this story--and what struck me again, reading it for perhaps the half-dozenth time--is the clarity of the voices. Findekano is Findekano; Maitimo is Maitimo. Within a few paragraphs, I am as comfortable with each of them as with an old friend. The episode told in this tale is nothing particularly new, but the ease with which you take me as a reader into the lives and minds of these two recaptures it with fresh, new life.

Beyond that, this story is more than a coming-of-age romance: It also subtly reveals the familial, political, and cultural stresses that are beginning to loom over the Noldor and that will shape their fates, particularly these eldest sons of warring families. The strength of the background characters lends the feeling of a world beyond this tale, a depth skillfully executed here. And the foreshadowing--while not diminishing the joy of the story--does remind me of the characters' fates...and the exact price that they will pay for their love.

In all, this is a fantastic story that you should truly be proud of, Oshun! I thank you for sharing this story and heartily recommend it to others who enjoy Silm-based slash.

Oshun! I absolutely adore this story! The first person makes it so personal... and with a character as brilliant and strong and wonderful as Findekano - that takes a lot of doing!

General Comment

oshun, I offer my long overdue accolades for "Maitimo and Fíndekano." This is a captivating, enticing story and imparts depth and insight into M & F's friendship and love, from the exalted to the erotic, that feels very real. F & M's interactions with the rest of the family and relatives are handled very nicely and are intriguing. And I love your vivid prose! Thanks for creating a great story about two compelling characters who happen to be among my favorite Noldorin men.

Ch. 1: Simply Maitimo

I read this having just read your new fic with Erestor and just am bowled over at how beautifully you write these wonderful fics. The relationships are subtle and light and romantic. There is an ease too, in the visual imagery that while it focuses on the characterisation, just fleshes out the images lightly... I keep coming back to that word because that is how it fels- not overloaded or highly sentimental, just a depth achieved by a light touch- perfect.

I have never engaged with the Silmarillion in the same way as LOTR - I probably read it a bit too young and found it confusing and the style diffuclt, perhaps becasue it is even more epic and poetic. However, your stories are drawing me back to it; such a powerful portrayal of Feanor and his family, with its passion and tenderness for each other, has made me understand and beleive how it could be possible for them to do all the deeds, out of that fiery self-belief and love and loyalty for their brilliant father. This is simply gorgeously written and delicate.
