Still more Dwarvish goodness! I particularly liked:

Steel was an intellectual challenge
From what I've read of pre-industrial ironworking, making good steel was challenging indeed!
A thoughtful look at the Longbeards at a time when even endurance must have seemed useless.

Thanks! Only the Dwarves seem to be inspiring me at the moment, but there just so many tantalizing little fragments of their history that I can't seem to stop writing about them.
