I'm so glad you liked the piece, Agape! I think that Denethor was not a man who dealt easily with young children; and would not have easily given of himself emotionally to Faramir, especially after Finduilas' death; which was, unfortunately, a time when Faramir would have most needed his father's attention. It doesn't mean that Denethor didn't love Faramir; he did, to some extent, but had difficulty showing it.

Hi Raksha,
This is such a cool story! Cool is such a non ME word, but well... :) The Italian greyhound is an excellent choice for Finduilas - graceful, beautiful and gentle. Now that I think about it, Denethor doesn't doesn't seem like a dog person at all.
Hmm but even if he did - to my mind it would probably be a wolfhound. A regal dog with an austere hunter-like grace. :)

Absolutely excellent tale. I would have wept over the puppy's kisses, if I were not weeping over Denethor's loss.... Both Faramir and his father suffered so much. I love that you have Imrahil thinking Faramir like his father. That was always my thought.
Again, excellent tale.
