Ch. 42: Chapter Forty-Two--Carnistir
I have mentioned before how much the way you write Caranthir reminds me of my granddaughter who is both autistic and exceptionally gifted. So moving in this chapter how Maedhros is described as struggling to maintain outward control in front of his little brothers and how they nonetheless read his pain and sadness and try to comfort him each in their own clumsy ways. Loved the sentence about how Macalaurë wipes the fish parts off of Nelyo's forehead with a tea towel "griping about how clumsy and senseless he can be, but his annoyance is clearly contrived, and his hands are gentle on Nelyo's face." You capture Caranthir, Maedhros, Maglor and what boys are like all in one sentence.
