For all that you say you are depicting relatively happier times for the Feanorians, I'm guessing that you - like me - have a slight addiction to angst, with the exception that you write it very well in addition to that.
Fingon's use of the philosophy "What Would Maedhros Do" is really touching, and Maedhros's explanation - "I do not lie" - warns of how much grief both of them are bound to suffer because of their respective integrity.

That last moment is full of loveliness and portent, and all the time I was reading this, I was thinking of Fingon rescuing Maedhros. You have layer and layers in this.
