Ch. 4: At the Meeting Stone

I am so glad to see that you are posting your revised chapters and moving forward with this beautifully written story. No one is born a hero, not even the heir of Isildur, and yet when you write of the 20-year-old Aragorn we see in the young man, untested and immature, the foreshadowing of what the man we have come to know best only as he comes into his full power and purpose. I particularly like the details of the keep, the characters, the whole feel for the Dúnedain with their harsh life and high purpose. The careful consideration and fine writing have enabled you to strike the fine balance between realism and magic that this story demands. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, heartofoshun. It's hard to write a young Aragorn and get the right balance between potential and room for growth. I'm glad you think the portrait in "Sword" is good. In a few more chapters the story will soon evolve into high action/adventure. I hope to post the next chapter, "The Test of Battle," in a couple of weeks.
