Soubrettina, every time I re-read this story I either cry or don't breathe until the end. Often both.

The stream-of-consciousness is simply divine, and Eowyn's depressed state of mind "at the end of all things" is nothing short of perfection. I'm completely within her mind every step of the way, seeing the shadows of Mordor and of her own thoughts, and her despair in all its shades.

I spot a few typos here and there, but my eyes simply slide past them in this story because I too "involved," just as Faramir and Eowyn are too involved to realize anything else but themselves.

This remains one of my very favorite Faramir/Eowyn stories, ever. Lovely, lovely job.

Ch. 3: Melting

This was an extremely interesting and entertaining story. I thought it was an interesting extrapolation of the personalities of these characters. (My version of Faramir wouldn't have left her alone with her thoughts for so long. But I won't quibble about that!) I did not think story was AU/or OOC. Why people deny human nature or persist in assuming that a societal ideal ever really reflects reality is a mystery to me. I am not saying this is way it did happen (because it didn't happen, after all it is a fictional story about fictional characters). AU to me is Boromir lives or Sauron triumphs in the Ring War, not filling the unwritten gaps in the story. I think a debate about the question is counterproductive and runs completely headlong against one of the main motivations for writing fanfiction—to take what the author wrote and give it a different spin.

Ah, our Eowyn starts coming into her own.  Thanks for this one, and love the fragments of the note Faramir tries leaving.  Hope no one else read them!  Heh!
