Fire On The Mountain

I am so intrigued by this vignette! I'm also an author who enjoys writing about peoples, time periods and locations that seem to get short shrift in fandom; I'm about to write something about the beacon-towers and found your story (I was here at HASA for the research area), which has newly inspired me. Your attention to detail makes this story come to life. Having the guard posts rotated makes perfect sense, and you've captured the tedium with brilliant description. ;) You've put so much thought into what life would be like, with the guard house down the mountain, and the guards taking their turns from the White City-- I'll definitely incorporate those elements into my story as well. Yours reads as canon. Very, very well done! I'm so glad that you were inspired to write this vignette exploring the very real details of what it would be like to be in such an isolated area, the soldiers going year after year, decade after decade, and as your protagonist says, "For what??" Until that one day...
Kudos!

Wow! Lovely little filler.
I like the idea that both of Amaron's sons are lighting beacons that day.
In my view this was one of the best bits that Peter Jackson did, and you have certainly done it justice.
Thank you.
