Hi Raihon,
This was a difficult chapter to write because it meant Denethor had to face not "the Steward" but himself as that person. He had to come to some kind of resolution with Ecthelion and a lifetime of betrayal and intrigue. He also has to confront his own fear and despair, which he does in great part through comforting Boromir, and fails to do when giving Finduilas her birthday present.
