As Estel, the promise, he had learned it from his mother, like all other boys of his line before him, and it had fascinated him.

As Aragorn, the crownless, he had chanted it with his brothers in the Wild, and it had become his obsession.

As Thorongil, the homeless, it had become a reality--stars, ships, stones, tree--and his mission in life.

As Strider, the vagabond, he had sung it to four hobbits, and it had become light in darkness.

As the Heir of Isildur it became his banner.

As Elessar, in him hope is fulfilled: the Tree flowers once more.
