2. Watcher at the window

I watch the tears grow in her eyes and I know I have persuaded her. As I stand at the window I watch her leave, my own eyes welling with tears. But I will not let them show, or I will break down, and call her back.
Now the gardens of my house will stand almost silent; so many have left, so few remain. Only those who would not leave, not until this chapter reaches its bitter conclusion.
And as I see her face, bitter in anguish, and her eyes, accusing, I would it was not like this, I wish she would not leave in anger.
