7. Athelas

Upon the plain of war she left her soul,

Upon the stones of Pelennor she died.

Only the King's Hands may save.

Where now is the King?

Remember her in the Halls of Time,

Neither living nor dead in her sickness:

She needs the touch of the exiled king.

Where now is the King?

Wisdom and honour these houses are built on,

Ancient craft of elves undone;

Valour and vengeance they fuel with their skills,

For better are soldiers live than under hill.

He burns in fever, his soul in suffering;

Deeds of elders rule his fate,

And now he can barely breathe.

Where now is the King?

Remember him in the Halls of Time,

Neither living nor dead in this city:

He needs the touch of the exiled king.

Where now is the King?

Mercy and kindness these houses are built on,

Ancient craft of men long dead.

Peace and serenity they fueled with their skills,

For better are men alive than under hill.

A great hero he is among the Big Folk,

The Halfling that helped to slay the Witch

Lies near interred on his bed in silence.

Where now is the King?

Remembered forever in lore and rhyme,

A stranger in even stranger lands:

He needs the touch of the exiled king.

Where now is the King?

Old and new these houses are built on,

Strange craft of foreigners and kin.

Death and renewal they fuel with their skills,

For better are Halflings live than under hill.

Remember those in the Halls of Healing

Waiting for dawn and the sunset of dark;

But they need the exiled King.

Where now is the King?

Where now is the King?

He comes.
