1. Gone Hunting
The Fellowship made camp among the holly trees and, while Aragorn and Boromir walked off in search of game, Gimli took out the whetstone to sharpen his axe. The sound of stone against metal soothed him, unlike the crude sound of the ranger's singing some elven song. He had often heard people speak of the elven songs with high regard – obviously, they had not heard this ranger's singing.
In the past, every time someone spoke of rangers, Gimli thought of stealth and noiseless grace. Not anymore. Aragorn had probably scared all forest life in miles around them.
Obviously, those hares were deaf.
