3. Spellbound--by Mallondwen

My mind urges me to help but my legs refuse. Frodo cries out, "Gandalf!" running forward, what hinders me?

Boromir holds him back. Tis certain death. The bridge could collapse any moment.

Struggling to hold on, Gandalf locks his gaze with mine, "Fly you fools!"

Eternal seconds pass, no one dares to breathe or turn away,

Suddenly he is gone.

My vision blurs in disbelief, No!

Feeling abruptly loosed, I stumbled forward a step.

"Gandalf." I sigh knowingly as the first tear slips.

An assailing arrow strikes the steps, "fly you fools!" echoes faintly, obeying sadly we turn and go.
