5. Reward - Edoraslass

Sam stared at the small plant Elrond was attempting to hand him.

“But -- I’ve got nothing to give you, sir,” he stammered, ill-at-ease with the idea of accepting a gift from the Elven lord.

Elrond smiled. “You have given me what you’ve given the entire land, Master Samwise,“ he said gently, aware of Sam’s discomfort. “Hope. A life without Shadow.”

Sam blushed red as Merry’s new vest.

Then his eyes sharpened as he looked more closely at the little seedling. “That’s -- athelas, isn’t it?”

Elrond nodded. “It is,” he said. “And it will flourish in the Shire.”
