15. I Am A Dwarf--A Poem for Gimli
Persevering, patient, strong
I carve the rock that is Earth's bone.
I am a Dwarf; a child of stone,
Stunted and strange, yet Aule's own -
Added by him to Eru's Song.
I am a Dwarf; a child of stone -
Persevering, patient, strong.
I carve the deep, forgotten dark -
And beauty flowers underground.
With careful strokes I make my mark -
I carve the deep, forgotten dark.
Let mithril shine and crystals spark,
Let Dwarven songs and hammers sound,
I carve the deep forgotten dark
And beauty flowers underground.

Author's notes: Chathol-linn and Starlight gave me a huge amount of help with this - but all the remaining inabilities to scan are my own ;-)
