3. Short Poems

Long has this kingdom
lacked a king, silently,
we stand in their place.


He thinks I do not
know: but I do. The Captain
desires my city.


At the end, she was
as white as the gulls from the
sea that she longed.


My sons, different
but so alike. The younger
has the elder’s gifts.


One lost, near death. One
lost, dead. Doom approaches,
but I stand and laugh.


The fire that burns, the
consuming flame, destroying
all that it touches.
