2. Triolets

Faramir on Boromir

I should have been the one to go -
The risk was mine -
But you would not have it so.
I should have been the one to go -
Whatever fate this dream might show
It was not thine.
I should have been the one to go.
The risk was mine.

Sam on Frodo

If you're going I'm going
And I don't care what you say.
Though I can not bear the Ring
If you're going I'm going
Or else my duty's owing
Though we do not know the way
If you're going I'm going
And I don't care what you say.

Gimli

A double triolet, should such a creature exist, written for the crossover challenge with extensive help from Chathol-linn and Starlight.

I am a Dwarf; a child of stone -
Persevering, patient, strong
I carve the rock that is Earth's bone.
I am a Dwarf; a child of stone,
Stunted and strange, yet Aule's own -
Added by him to Eru's Song.
I am a Dwarf; a child of stone -
Persevering, patient, strong.

I carve the deep, forgotten dark -
And beauty flowers underground.
With careful strokes I make my mark -
I carve the deep, forgotten dark.
Let mithril shine and crystals spark,
Let Dwarven songs and hammers sound,
I carve the deep forgotten dark
And beauty flowers underground.
