3. Silence

From Théoden to Elfhild

Her laughter I will hear no more
While walking slowly through the hall,
Because the lady is gone

My thoughts now turn to days of yore,
Of ev'nings spent before- but, no;
Her laughter I will hear no more.

Death's creeping fingers roam along,
I feel them settle on my hall
Because the lady is gone.

A final gift she grants before
her eyelids close and silence drowns
Her laughter; I will hear no more!

My son cries, now, what must be done?
I hold him, still, but he stops not
Because the lady is gone.

Dark shadows lurk around my door
as they have never done before.
Her laughter I will hear no more
Because the lady is gone.
