Gone Amiss

So much emotion packed into so little space (that's the best thing about good drabbles!) I love "The man born to be his Steward" - that's so sad, because it captures so many things about the complexities not only of the relationship that did exist between those two, but the relationship that could have evolved in a future now gone forever.
Aragorn's last line is perfect too - both the exclamation (perfect choice of wording) and that his thoughts fly to Denethor, *and* he wonders how on earth Thorongil is going to explain this one.
Bittersweet, and punchy both at once (and it's taken me more words to comment on it than it did you to write it!)
