Jael,
What a great story! To see Thanduil as a young warrior, with his trusty squire to comfort him on the eve of battle, is wonderfully tender and sweet. To see the aftermath of the battle, and Thranduil's realization of the changes to come for him and his kingdom is heartbreatking. This is one of my favorites of your stories and I'm thrilled to see it posted here.

Thank you, Bard! It certainly does add some nuances to the interactions between the two of them in my other stories.
This story marks the first time I worked with a very special beta reader, whom I would like to thank. 
I would also like to thank 'Galion,' who stubbornly refused to allow me to turn him into merely a figure of fun as I wrote him. It will be apparant that I am one of the few hopeless Galion fangirls in existence.
