This is perfect collection of Faramir and Denethor vignettes - you show the evolution and tension of their relationship tenderly but without unneccessary sentiment or too much harshness. I love that Denethor's moments of reaching out to his son and connecting are done through action instead of words (teaching him chess, giving him the bow, showing him the East, handing over the lands) - it seems very true to their relationship.

I realize this particular view of Denethor and Faramir is not "standard" and maybe not to everyone's liking, but I appreciate it when at least some readers can see what I'm trying to do with the characters.
