Oh, Jay, I just love this story! It gives me goosebumps, even though I have read it before.
I just love how you so clearly show the POV of the eagles, their culture, what is important to them. To be an eagle was to fly - indeed! And their adolescent jostling and bragging is delightful!
But the young bird, expressing concern for the old one Were you hurt? shows a tender, more social side to the Eagles.
But I especially like Meneldor, who will indeed get his chance to do a truly great deed -- what a lovely, hopeful ending!
