Hello, Ang,

This was highly recommended to me by Marta - so I had to read it.

Disturbing! But incredible. No cute little Hobbits running around the Shire. Much more realistic IMHO.

Definitely shuddered as I read it, but Bilbo's tenacity and faith in Frodo is beautiful. And to see the old 'thief' cut himself and Frodo from the bonds of a cunning spider in Hobbit disguise was delightful.

Brava! And thanks to Marta!

O wow! I really like the way you make Bilbo a believable actor in Shire clan politics. Some of the things in this story might be a bit too strong for my stomach but as a whole it's marvellous!

Your vision of the Shire in this story and "On merry Yule" is very much alive. Your "green sun" fits seamlessly with the world around it, it seems like it's always been there. Regardless of the fact that Tolkien himself would never have written about sexuality the way you have done.

I will probably never again read about hobbit society or Frodo without being reminded of your stories. I especially think it gives more depth to the relationship between Frodo and Gollum.

Vidugavia,

I'm tickled pink that you like the Shire stories so much. The stories are not to everyone's taste, it's true, but it is what the telling demanded.

Take care,
Anglachel
