This was a great vignette - you did exactly what you set out to do - explain Elrond's reasoning behind the 'fool's choice' of sending these particular nine.
Very much liked Glorfindel's part in this - glad you spent some time with him, as Tolkien didn't give him enough.
And loved the reference to his 'idea' of what to do with the Ring! Priceless.

I wonder why this theme hasn't been explored by others more, Thundera. Elrond was no leader at all in late 3018, and that the Elves of Imladris passively accepted his unreason was baffling. Though he later recovered and sent his sons to aid the Quest, in the choosing of the Nine his will seemed almost completely in the posession of Mithrandir. Anyway, I agree with "Glorfindel" :) Good story!
