Ered Lómin

Type: Mountains, Hills, Promontories

Region: Beleriand & North

Meaning: Echoing Mountains

Location: A mountain range running along the coastal region of Middle-earth north of Beleriand; the western boundary of Hithlum and Dor-lómin; the eastern boundary of Lammoth and Nevrast.

Description: Under the cold stars before the rising of the Moon the host of Fëanor went up the long Firth of Drengist that pierced the Echoing Hills of Ered Lómin, and passed thus from the shores into the great land of Hithlum....

The Silmarillion, Quenta Silmarillion, Ch 13, Of the Return of the Noldor

West of Dor-lómin, beyond the Echoing Mountains, which south of the Firth of Drengist marched inland, lay Nevrast.... That name was given ... afterwards only to the land whose shores lay between Drengist and Mount Taras. There for many years was the realm of Turgon the wise..., bounded by the sea, and by Ered Lómin, and by the hills which continued the walls of Ered Wethrin westward, from Ivrin to Mount Taras, which stood upon a promontory.
