Tar-Alcarin, rightful King of Númenor, does not rule

Meaning: The Glorious

Event Type: Political

Age: 2nd Age - Rings

Year: 2637

Description:
For the first 20 years of the reign that was rightfully his, the rule was usurped by his father: "Herucalmo took the sceptre upon his wife's death, calling himself Tar-Anducal, and withholding the rule from his son Alcarin; some do not reckon him in the Line of Kings as seventeenth, and pass to Alcarin."
Tolkien lists Tar-Alcarin as the seventeeth, and notes he was rightful king for 100 years, although he ruled only for 80. The date used here reflects the full 100.
