The personality of Gwindor, a lord of Nargothrond, seems typically Noldorin: courageous, but rash. He went to fight in in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad against the wishes of his King, because of his brother Gelmir, who had been captured in the Dagor Bragollach. When Gelmir was mutilated and killed within sight of the Elven armies, Gwindor's " wrath was kindled to madness" and he rushed immediately to the attack, ending up as a prisoner in Angband. (The Silmarillion, QS, Ch. 20 - Of the Fifth Battle: the Nirnaeth Arnoediad)
Years later he escaped from Angband after years of thralldom, "a bent and fearful shadow of his former shape and mood", "seeming as one of the aged among mortal Men."
Back in Nargothrond, "he fell into dishonour and none heeded him, for his strength was small and he was no longer foward in arms". His beloved Finduilas turned away from him and fell in love with Túrin Turambar. (QS, Ch. 21 - Of Túrin Turambar)
