2008 Birthday Drabbles
Imhiriel's 2008 Birthday Presents: 7. As Salt as the Sea - DKP
We were dreamed, shaped, given birth in love and celebration. My siblings and I joined our own rapturous voices to the Lindar's joyous singing, skimming the waves as freely as birds in flight.
Fëanor's treachery held bitter irony: creator turned destroyer, thief of sea-jewels.
With our masters' murderers treading our blood-drenched decks, some of us thrilled in Ossë's anger, breaking apart in vengeful glee.
But that was not my fate.
Though my timbers shuddered at the grasp of red-stained hands, I first delivered him to his cursed Doom. Then I became a pyre for the light and peace of Valinor.

A/N: "But as for our white ships: those you gave us not. We learned not that craft from the Noldor, but from the Lords of the Sea; and the white timbers we wrought with our own hands, and the white sails were woven by our wives and our daughters. Therefore we will neither give them nor sell them for any league or friendship. For I say to you, Fëanor son of Finwë, these are to us as are the gems of the Noldor: the work of our hearts, whose like we shall not make again." (Olwë speaking, Silm - Of the Flight of the Noldor)
With a tip of the hat to Imhiriel's excellent venture into Fëanor's mind: "The Pillar Perished Is", here on HASA.
