Boromir once asked Denethor how many years made a steward and a king, and Denethor's answer was recorded in the Red Book. But did Denethor really believe his answer or was he giving what was politically expected? This is my attempt to write Denethor giving a real answer, and so further explore the relationship between Boromir and Denethor.
