So why write a 'mary sue' for Elrond? Well I was always drawn to his character because he's so lonely, and it seems as though he's lived his whole life looking after others. I know I'm not alone in feeling that things weren't quite right between him and his wife (now there's an incendiary comment!). I also felt that his vehemence against Arwen marrying Aragorn was somewhat against his usual wisdom, and must have its roots in an more emotional reaction. This story actually started off with the epilogue, and then I had to write the whole thing to explain how we got there. Mary sue? I think she fufills most of the criteria, but I also attempted to make her likeable, and someone the reader could identify with. So.... did you?
Oh, and there's also a plot and the story of the Last Alliance as seen from her point of view, because I wanted to write something well rounded, rather like the sort of thing I like to read.
