He's perhaps the nastiest of the Feanorian sons. In HoME he's the only one of the sons who helps his father burn the ships - and his baby brother while he's at it. He and Celegorm are the most destructive towards Luthien and Beren, and Finrod and Orodreth's kingdom. And yet, Celebrimbor seems like a relatively decent person, who has enough moral fiber to renounce his father and his evil deeds. Which makes me very much want to know who his mother was.
She's had brief appearences in other fics - particularly Ithilwen's and Shauna's - but I've never seen her at the center of her own story. I'd very much like to know what sort of woman would want to marry Curufin, what sort of courtship and marriage they had, and what sort of relationship she had with her son.
I suppose this technically isn't a Mary-sue, since barring MPREG Curufin's wife must have existed, but I think there's lots of room here for taking a strong female character and running with it. In an early Silmarillion draft Tolkien says she remained in Valinor, but that isn't mentioned in later drafts, so there might be room to have her do the classic Mary-sue thing of jumping in where all the action is. She could swear the Feanorian oath along with her husband, take part in the kinslaying or not, take part in the burning of the ships or try to stop it, and do something or other in the Beren and Luthien story.
It's got to be the Silmarillion counterpart of having a woman join the Fellowship - having a woman Feanorian.
Anyone interested?

However, I think it would be interesting to see a Curufin romance- I have been grappling with an idea for a story with Curufin as a supporting character- not a romance involving him though- and I want to see what others make of Feanor's favourite son and his family.
Curufin has always struck me to be one of the most myserious and interesting characters, because he of all his brothers resembles his father the most, in looks and mind. It makes for interesting family dynamics, doesn't it?

I would also like to see other people's takes on Curufin's wife and their marriage. It DOES seem puzzling that Celebrimbor turns out the way he does, knowing what we know about his father, so her influence must have been important. Unless someone else stepped into Celebrimbor's life and filled the emotional role of "mother" for him after he was separated from his true mother after the Exile - and that would also be a nice Mary Sue role, I'd think.
Re: Curufin
The poor Elf seems to be forever besotten by either Galadriel or Annatar in fandom, perhaps a dose of a nice Mary-Sue will liven things up, even furthermore explain the expelling of Curufin?Just imagine the angst it could have, from the POV who's actually concerned with him(no offence to Galadriel-in-Eregion writers out there).
We can have a tale of revenge, love, suspence, drama...or if one feels really lazy..copy the reaction from Spartacus in Garibaldi's friend's novel(whose name I have sadly forgotten, NOT Howard Fast) as they see the body of Celebrimbor as Sauron's banner..
Anyone willing?
-Furius, who thinks Celebrimbor/OC romance and Aldarion/OC romance are actually canonically supported.

I tried not just to write an OFC, but to use some typical Mary Sue elements - first person narration, love at first sight, putting my OFC in the center of the action and having her, in the end, be able to do something the canon character can't do. It's certainly been an interesting experiment, and I'm curious to hear what y'all think.
