Discussing: Fingon

Fingon

Klose has undertaken to write a Fingon/OFC, thus *finally* giving us all an answer as to whether or not he did produce an heir. Yay!

Any other takers on this one?

Well, I am now officially bound to writing/finishing this one. Eep. I'll have to set aside my other WIP, but it's not so hard, because I have this lovely pic of Fingon to sustain me:

http://www.imladris.nu/fingon.html

Now, don't you just want to give Fingon a Mary Sue, after looking at that?

I second Dwim's call: Any other takers?

-Klose, swooning at yummy elf men.

Didn't mean to put you on the spot, there. But nevertheless, now that you are feeling thoroughly committed ... ;-)

Picture: [Dwim has lost the ability to speak properly] Yummmm....

Yes, I can see how that picture might inspire a story. Sheesh, it should be illegal to be that pretty.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Klose! Go KLose!

(E.W. gets up and does a dance around the room...)

I am so glad you are going to do a FIngon/OFC! I have only ever read Fingon slash, so I am VERY excited by this new thing for me to enjoy!!!!! I am ALL aflutter about this.... Hang on...My husband thinks I am having a seizure....have to assure him I'm okay....

(Okay, thirty minutes later........) I'm back... I just took out my Fingon fetish on my husband.. he's gonna be walkin' funny for a while. PLEASE let me know about when it is ready to read. I have been too busy with my four other writing projects, and frankly, too intimidated by the Silmarillian to try to write fic from it.

Good Luck!

E.W.

Hehe. Don't worry, the plot bunny was too strong to resist, anyway. I'm just trying to find ways to keep myself going. I tend to get distracted easily. (Ah, to be a hyperactive teenager...)

I know. I kept going back to swoon some more... the person in charge of that site needs a disclaimer. People could get hurt!

Oh my! Now I am under pressure to write a fantastic Fingon/OFC fic. Nah, j/k. I'm glad that there is going to be at least one person interested. (I guess 'interested' is an understatment... take a few deep breaths E.W, calm down.)

(Okay, thirty minutes later........) I'm back... I just took out my Fingon fetish on my husband.. he's gonna be walkin' funny for a while.

Do I really want to know what you mean by that? Innocent youngster here! Try not to corrupt me. (Oh, alright, so I'm not that innocent!)

PLEASE let me know about when it is ready to read. I have been too busy with my four other writing projects, and frankly, too intimidated by the Silmarillian to try to write fic from it.

Of course, of course. Do you want a personal email, when it is ready for publication? I'll be happy to oblige.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I am really going to need encouragement and support to write this story *cough*hint*cough

-Klose, scared that she will write a bad-fic

Nope, if I hyperventillate, You will have to hurry....

I believe in conducting my life in order to make Socrates proud....In other words, a corrupted youth a day, keeps oppression away...Consider yourself a corrupted youth.

YES!!! Personnally email me when it's done....and personnally email me if you need prodded, encouraged, fed chocolate to continue, your taxes done....or anything I can do to keep you at this!

One of the privileges of membership is the ability to create your own beta stories and discussions. You can do the line-by-line trickle torture à la David Weber, post passages you're working on, ask questions, and seek out beta readers.

I think this can be done without undue difficulty--as far as I recall, there isn't really much in the way of textual reference for an undisputed pairing of Fingon with someone else. But he was a major figure, a king, and given the dangerous situation, even an Elf might be under pressure to marry and get heirs.

Look on the bright side: you're not writing Shadowfax/OFC horse. If someone can pull that off, I will be in awe forever.

But anyhow, Fingon I think should be quite doable. Go for it!

Yup, no pressure here, folks! I'll try to to my best to get it out ASAP. Hang in there!

Woohoo! So much for staying innocent till 18... I'm sure Socrates will be proud. (Er, I might appear to be an ignorant youth here, but tell me again who he is...? I forget.)

Cool! I can live with that arrangement. Look forward to mails from me bombarding your mailbox very soon... Plus, some nice drawings of Fingon won't be so bad, yeah? *cough* yet another *cough*hintcough*

-Klose, shamelessly taking advantage of E.W's kindness. It's not my fault! She corrupted me!

Dwim kindly pointed out:

*slaps forehead* I can't believe I forgot that... must be pre-TTT anxiety. I think I'll start a discussion soon, maybe even post the draft of the first chapter, if it's ready. I'm not sure about the beta-reading though. Should I just post a message in the beta-reading forum? I was going to, before, but I kind of chickened out...

Good point! I will worship the person who even *attempts* that monstrosity. *shudder* It is as bad as a Wormtongue/OFC. Oops. That just brought up some bad mental images. I think I need to go lie down, before I get started on Fingon. (whoa, that just came out totally wrong, didn't it?)

-Klose, mentally scarred forever.

Re: Fingon

(Er, I might appear to be an ignorant youth here, but tell me again who he is...? I forget.)

Ah corrupted (and forgetful) youth.

Lecture voice: Socrates was an Athenian citizen who lived during the Pelepponesian war and was put to death on groundless charges about 2500 years ago. One of the charges was that by asking penetrating questions and challenging dogmatic opinions through question-and-answer exchanges, he corrupted the youth of Athens.

He was Plato's teacher, passed on the Socratic method, and bravely accepted his sentence of death, refusing to escape even when given the opportunity to do so because that would've violated his principles. Plato of course is the father of Western Philosophy.

Neo-platonism heavily influenced the early Church fathers, and gave Christian theology a number of ideas that remain with the Church even today and would have been known to Tolkien (by way of bringing the thread back on target and avoiding the UHTT).

Anyhow, write on!

Ah corrupted (and forgetful) youth.

Yup, forgetfulness one of my finest virtues (ahem).

Lecture voice: Socrates was an Athenian citizen...
*blinks*
Ohhhh, yeah, I studied this in Literature... this is what happens when the Singapore govt. puts too much emphasis on Maths and Sciences. At this rate, I'm doomed to studying Engineering!

Ahem. Sorry for that, school is going to start in two weeks (sob) and my mind is slowly returning to its usual catatonic state.

Uh-oh, better stop before I get caught by the UHTT...

-Klose, hiding behind piles of Maths homework, trying to get started on Fingon and his OFC!

Re: Fingon

Delicious picture... I certainly look forward to the story! (She says, who's written Fingon/Maedhros before but would be delighted to see Fingon with someone else...)

Phew! I thought I was going to be attacked by Fingon/Maedhros fans/writers for merely thinking of a Fingon/OFC. But I'm going to be doing some bad, bad things to those two characters, so I'm probably going to have to keep my guard up...

-Klose

PS: The picture is fantastic, isn't it? Sadly, my non-Ringer friends don't seem to think so. Sigh.

Come and study Engineering where I teach, Klose. I specialize in taking wide-eyed and innocent techie students and bending their minds with a fiercely administered dose of sociology.

*eagerly* Really? Where do you teach? I want to study sociology, but I'm a pure science student, and since I don't take Literature as a pure subject (it's a combined humanities with social studies), I have to settle for a techie course.

I'm not very innocent (as E.W will tell you) but I'm more than willing to be brainwashed with sociology!

-Klose, planning (executing is a whole other matter) to study well so that she can go to England...

Re: Fingon

Why should I want to attack you for writing a Fingon/OFC? But you're not going to make the poor darling desperately unhappy, are you???

Finch
(another Fingon/Maedhros writer)

Er, not Fingon... but Maedhros, now that's an entirely different matter...

Fingon has a Mary Sue

It's done... lemme direct you to the first chapter (and, as of yet, the only published one) of A Cause for Sorrow. Go read it, if you're interested (check out Beta or Challenges, alternatively, click on my user name), and then, go to the Two Guys and A Girl:A Fingon Romance Forum to offer your comments. You know you want to. ;)
