Discussing: How would you say this?

How would you say this?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how you would say 'The Girl in the Water' in Sindarin. Thanks! CLF

Re: How would you say this?

Hi CLF, Is it going to be a name or is it a sentence. (ie. Her name is Nenediel, which means The Girl in the Water or "Hey, look a the girl in the water"?) Karri

Re: How would you say this?

It would just be like 'hey, look a girl in the water. "

Re: How would you say this?

In that case, I think it would be Sell nedi nen. Karri

Re: How would you say this?

Actually, that version of the preposition "in" is for placing something in time. For placing something in space, one would use the Sindarin words nedh or vi. It's a piculiar distinction that those crazy Elves decided to make, I guess. Of the two, I would choose vi just because it's not as close to ned. So, it would come to sell vi nen! You could also use ael for lake or if it's a cold lake in the mountains you could use rim. Just replaces nen. ^_^ Berz.
