Merry and Pippin settle in Gondor
Event Type: General
Age: 4th Age
Date: May 1, 0064
Merry and Pippin leave Rohan to live in Gondor for the remainder of their lives, presumably as guests of Elessar and Arwen:
Master Meriadoc... was with King Éomer before he died in that autumn. Then he and Thain Peregrin went to Gondor and passed what short years were left to them in that realm....
The Lord of the Rings, Appendix B, The Tale of Years: Later Events Concerning the Members of the Fellowship of the Ring
[The] Thain's Book in Minas Tirith... was a copy, made at the request of King Elessar, of the Red Book of the Periannath, and was brought to him by the Thain Peregrin when he retired to Gondor in IV 64.
The Lord of the Rings, Prologue, Note on the Shire Records
The year is canon, but the month is an estimate, set to the late spring following the autumn after Éomer, King of Rohan, dies; it seems unlikely that the aged hobbits would wish to travel from Rohan to Gondor in the height of winter or summer.
