Middle Earth Carols

Middle Earth Christmas Carols

1. Ainur We Have Heard on High

Ainur we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o’er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Hennaid a Meleth am Eru
Hennaid a Meleth am Eru

Valar, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your lovely song?

Come to Cuiviénen and see
Elves whose birth the Ainur sang;
Come, return, they said to thee,
Vanyar, Noldor, Teleri

Firstborn do not be afraid,
Do not fear this Great Journey;
Ingwë, Finwë, lend your aid;
Lead your host across the sea.

Thus they came to Aman fair,
In the Blessed Realm they dwell;
With Eru’s grace you’ll find me there;
When this land I bid farewell.
