I'm submitting this on a dare. Blame RiikiTikiTavi for unleashing this on the world...
We all know 'em. We all despise 'em. In part because they're banal, predictable, trite. They also have a tendency to reduce our most beloved characters to mushy puddles of goo, barely recognizable shadows of their noble selves. Isn't it about time that Ms. Sue learned a thing or two about the grittier side of Middle Earth?
Write an M-S parody that documents Ms. Sue's reaction when she realises that she has perhaps bitten off a little more than she can chew. Do you care care to explore the delicate Hobbit art of podiatric grooming? Do you dare to gaze into the Prince of Mirkwood's cerulean orbs (TM), only to discover that elves are possibly a little more feline than we ever knew? (Think mating tomcats. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, click here: http://www.cfainc.org/health/reproduction8.html ) What will Ms. Sue do when Gandalf informs her that by elvish custom, she's now wedded to that hunka-hunka burnin' love for the rest of eternity? Canon weenies are invited to dust off and include True Tolkien Trivia in an attempt to set a better example for aspiring writers, but bonus points will obviously be awarded for creativity.
