Things That Go Bump In the Night
Challenge Details
Werewolves, vampires, balrogs, wargs, orcs, trolls, dragons, dead men in meres and behind forbidden doors, behemoth spiders—Tolkien bequeathed a monstrous brood to Middle-earth. In the spirit of Halloween, we want you to write about them, and to take advantage of the vast potential for the horrific and the uncanny that is present in Middle-earth.
Long or short, it matters not, but write the monsters of M-e. You may cover events that are canonically attested, or find other gaps to exploit and expand upon. The goal is to make your reader unwilling to turn out the light.
